Do tints or shades of colors in the color wheel determine different complementary colors?

By tints or shades of color wheel colors, I mean:

Red:

Scarlet

Crimson

Blue:

Navy

Ultramarine

Yellow:

Golden Yellow

Canary Yellow

Green:

Olive

Grass

Purple:

Orchid

Lavender

Orange:

Sienna

Vermilion(Red mixed with orange)

Not sure about Indigo, though...

Do I need specific tints and shades of complementary colors to go with those? Or does it not matter?

Because I don%26#039;t exactly have a full set of Prismacolor pencils but I do have some. and want to use them in the future.

Vermillion...complement is Blue-green opposite of red and yellow...which is Vermillion.

Just work it out... what color would be across the wheel.

EDIT: Hue is color, tint is hue with white added, shade is hue with complement added (or if really crass..black)
